How Brocks Wheels & Tyre (BWT) upgraded to SAP Business One to help them realise their potential for growth.
Duncan Pryke is the director of Brocks Wheel & Tyre (BWT), a family-owned wholesale retailer of agricultural wheels and tyres located on a working farm in Essex, UK. Originally a small part of J Brocks and Sons, business boomed for BWT, and they ended up becoming their own independent business with a £5m turnover and 20 employees.
Duncan knew that this rapid growth presented a major issue – BWT’s existing systems just couldn’t keep with the new demands and the pace of expansion. They knew they had to search for a better solution.
BWT were relying on multiple different systems to run their business. They had a separate system for accounts and finance processing, along with data recorded on multiple spreadsheets.
This all meant that Duncan and the rest of the management couldn’t get the real-time insights that they needed to make the most of new business opportunities. Too many of their important decisions were being based on people’s opinions rather than the real data and business benefits.
Also, the knowledge about customer accounts and how systems worked was spread out and isolated to specific team members – which would cause delays if someone was unavailable.
The main thing that BWT needed was one central place where they could keep all the data that they needed to drive the business forward – that meant no more jumping band forth between different systems and spreadsheets.
It was also important to have a solution that could grow and evolve with the business and was ready to support their future plans. Duncan knew that there was no point in upgrading to a new system if they were going to outgrow in a couple of years.
He was also well aware of the challenges and teething problems that come during the initial stages of setting up a new ERP system. That’s why he wanted a partner that would be there every step of the way to support and advise through this process and beyond.
Recognizing the need for a more streamlined system, BWT chose to work with Thinc due to our commitment to providing support throughout the implementation and training process.
We worked closely together to really get to know BWT’s current challenges and their goals and plans for the future. With all of this considered, we decided on SAP Business One as the best solution to consolidate all of their systems and improve visibility for management.
The system is tailored to BWT’s specific needs, with bespoke functionality and the ability to enable additional features, such as HR, as the business grows.
With SAP Business One implemented, BWT now has one clear integrated platform that promotes collaboration and communication across departments so that there’s a smooth and efficient workflow across the whole company.
Management are also now much more easily able to analyse the business’ performance with real-time data and far greater visibility and control over stock – so there’s no more relying on hunches and opinions to drive the all-important decisions.
BWT aren’t happy to settle with what they’ve got though – they’re always committed to continuing to maximise the efficiency of their operations. That’s why we look forward to carrying on our work together so they can unlock even more of their SAP Business One solution as they grow and develop.
