Produmex, built for SAP Business One, has a series of features to streamline inventory and improve your warehouse efficiency.
If you’ve been looking into improving your warehouse management and efficiency, you may have come across Boyum Produmex.
Read on as we unpack Produmex and the different solutions available to you, how Produmex WMS and Produmex Scan differ slightly and how they can both help to improve warehouse management, barcoding and overall efficiency.
Produmex, provided by Boyum IT for SAP Business One, is a warehouse management system (WMS) designed to optimise warehouse operations. It integrates seamlessly with SAP Business One and possesses key features ranging from real-time inventory management and warehouse space optimisation, to order processing and labour management.
The two main tools that sit within the Produmex suite are Produmex WMS and Produmex Scan.
Produmex WMS allows teams in manufacturing, shop floor management, warehousing and distribution to optimise processes, providing a full warehouse management system for complex and high-volume activity or operation. It offers you advanced workflow management for picking, packing and shipping of products and components, lot and serial number tracking. Produmex WMS is also known for its easy configuration to adapt to a variety of business needs.
Produmex Scan is a component available within the Produmex suite and is more tailored to barcode scanning and inventory transactions with workflow automation. It’s still a key component in supporting warehousing operations and its workers, but its specific capabilities are designed around barcode scanning and inventory transactions.
Because of this, it can still help processes like picking, shipping and stock counts with better overall inventory visibility and planning, but it’s suited to smaller operations. It’s simple to implement and operate, with minimal setup and training compared to WMS, and is very good for quick and efficient inventory transactions but may struggle to meet your needs if you have more complex workflow automation.
While both are solutions designed to integrate with SAP Business One, they do provide different levels of warehouse management capability.
Think of Produmex Scan as a lightweight, cost-effective solution for customers from smaller operations that don’t need the full capabilities that come with Produmex WMS. It can be adopted quickly, starting on just a few devices, expanding where and when required.
In contrast, Produmex WMS is the complete package for streamlining and automating complete warehouse and supply chain operations. It’s much more comprehensive, but it has all the functionality you’d need to optimise a larger operation.
Produmex Scan is the ideal solution for automating standard warehousing operations based on SAP B1 bin locations. If you’ve got a small outfit, but are still looking to automate components of inventory, Produmex Scan can help you to achieve that with minimal training, implementation and configuration. Its quick adoption means that improvements can be made almost instantly.
Differing in scale, Produmex WMS hosts a whole range of features for automating large operations, like batch and serial number support, location suggestions, container and bin management and stock allocation algorithms. It offers everything you need to completely optimise each stage of the manufacturing process and it’s thorough for optimising inventory management.
