Getting to know Jason Parkinson – one of our SAP Business One Analysts
What sets Thinc apart is our people. Every person at Thinc puts their passion into action every day, applying technical knowhow and specialist skills to help our clients achieve their ambitions.
We caught up with Jason Parkinson, SAP Business One Analyst, about his work helping our clients with their business technology needs – read on to get to know Jason a little better.
I am an SAP Business One Consultant and I work as part of the SAP practice at Thinc, I never really knew what I wanted to do as a career after leaving school. I had bounced around from one career to another, but never really found something that I enjoyed or was passionate about until I was given an amazing opportunity to join a business software company as a Junior SAP B1 consultant. That was my first step into the world of SAP Business One and I haven’t looked back since.
One of the main highlights of my role is that i get to work closely with our clients. I enjoy helping them and finding solutions to problems that they face, making processes more efficient and freeing up their valuable time to focus on more important tasks. That’s what I love most about the job: seeing how my advice makes life easier for people in a whole range of organisations.
I am very proud that I passed my SAP B1 associate exam, making me an SAP certified consultant. It was a great sense of achievement after a lot of intense study on top of my day job at Thinc! But it’s had a massive impact on the service I offer. It has given me confidence and self belief. When a customer calls in for support, I know that I have the knowledge and experience to find the best solution to quickly get them back up and running again.
I work closely with a guy called Greg, our Senior SAP Business One Consultant, who is a brilliant colleague and has helped in my career a lot. Greg once jokingly told me to “be a like a sponge.” It sounded funny to me at the time, but I think the point he was making was, you can learn something from anyone, no matter who they are or what they do (even if that lesson is in what not to do!).
That’s always stuck with me – be like a sponge and absorb everything.
Not many people know but I am a TV star! OK, maybe not quite a star, but I once appeared on an episode of DIY SOS, the BBC programme where volunteers come together to work on DIY projects for worthy causes. We helped a local family by installing a new roof on their home.
Nick Knowles, if you’re reading, I’m still free at weekends if you ever need another pair of hands.
